The fortress was founded on a small island in the Neva delta on May 27, 1703 (May 16 according to the old calendar) and that day became the birthday of the city of St Petersburg. |
- Wooden house of Peter the Great ( The cabin of Peter the Great)

The first residential building to be built in the newly founded city of St. Petersburg was a wooden house or cabin, intended for Tsar Peter himself. The cabin is very small - only 60 sq. meters in area and is a strange combination of a traditional Russian house - izba - and a Dutch home with large and elaborate windows and high roof, covered with wooden tiles. Tsar Peter lived in this house between 1703 and 1708 and the living room, bedroom and study, still filled with Peter's original belongings, still bear the mark of his presence |

- Hermitage ( Winter Palace)

The State Hermitage occupies six magnificent buildings situated along the embankment of the River Neva, right in the heart of St Petersburg . The leading role in this unique architectural ensemble is played by the Winter Palace , the residence of the Russian tsars that was built to the design of Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1754-62 |

The world-famous Royal country residence, a town of parks, palaces and fountains, was founded in the begin-ning of the XVIIIth century. It was Peter the Great who conceived the idea for the whole project. The Upper and Lower Parks were laid between 1714 and 1725 |

The town of Pavlovsk which is famous for its palace and park ensemble is located 26 kilometers to the south of Saint Petersburg . It was founded in 1777, at the time when Empress Catherine II granted her son, Grand Prince Pavel Petrovich |

The Church of Resurrection (Savior on Spilled Blood) was built as a historical and memorial center of all Russian people. The Cathedral was built in the memory of Emperor Alexander II, and his reforms, and served a symbol of repentance of the Russian people.The Savior on Spilled Blood is also a historical monument to the tragic events of March 1, 1881 |

The Russian Museum is the first state museum of the Russian fine art in the country. It was established in 1895 in St Petersburg under the decree of the Emperor Nicholas II.
